The St. Peter’s fish (Zeus faber), also known as the sunfish or roosterfish, is a flatfish found in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Black Seas. It is notable for its round body, tall sail-like dorsal fin and ability to change color. It prefers coastal habitats with sandy or muddy bottoms, near reefs. It feeds on small fish, crustaceans and cephalopods. This fish has commercial and gastronomic importance, being appreciated for its tasty meat.
