Description
Takuwan – Japanese pickled turnip is a type of Japanese pickle that is traditionally made from daikon, a Japanese radish. It is cut into thin strips or cubes and then soaked in a brine with salt and other ingredients such as kombu (seaweed) and rice vinegar. This fermentation process gives takuan its characteristic sweet and sour taste and bright yellow color. It is a popular accompaniment to Japanese food, especially in dishes such as sushi.
